9th September 2009 - 10:26amAnother Success Story
We recently caught up with one of our clients, Avecto ltd, who recruited 2 graduates from us earlier in the year to find out how things were progressing. Here are the thoughts of one of their founders, Tony Bolland.
1) A brief overview of your company please, Tony
Avecto Ltd – Founded 2008. Manchester based software house with offices in Boston MA. Innovator and developer of Privilege Guard, a new technology developed to improve the security of desktops and laptops in Fortune 1,000 companies and government departments. The Avecto management founded and led two other technology companies that featured in the Times Technology Fast Track 100, 5 years out of the last 12.
Graduate recruitment/development has been a fundamental building block to our previous business’s sales engine. Avecto will also follow the same model of recruiting and developing high achieving sales individuals based on partnership with Celsius.
2) When did you recruit Ben and Jonathan?
Feb 2009
3) How they have been targeted and what they have achieved (calls/DMs/Appointments/Revenue)
Target 10+ business conversations per day. 1 Web meeting. Both achieved web meetings on the first day. Ben consistently closes 10+ new web meetings per week with senior IT managers in major UK organisations.
4) How quickly did they win a deal?
2 Months to first order.
5) What is the total revenue they have generated in their first 3 and 6 months?
£100K sales per sales person in the first 4 months. Targeted to achieve £100K new business per qtr (note sales person closes their deals), although they are now handling sub £5K deals. Cost sub £3k pm – generate £25K
6) Any aspects of their performance that you feel are appropriate?
The beauty of the graduate is their hunger and lack of baggage!
20th February 2009 - 16:41pmCelsius’ Michael Dossor wins ‘Sales Professional of the year – Rising Star’ award at the British Excellence in Sales and Marketing Awards 2008.
The British Excellence in Sales & Marketing Awards (BESMA) represents the UK's highest level of recognition for outstanding sales achievement. Organised by The Institute of Sales & Marketing Management, (who are the UK sales body who have endorsed the Celsius graduate sales training programme), BESMA is the benchmark standard in its field. BESMA 2008 was held on Thursday 12th February 2009 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel as a black tie event with a champagne reception, gala dinner, entertainment and an awards ceremony comparable to the OSCARs of the film industry. Over 600 hundred senior executives from the corporate world attend, including CEOs, sales and marketing directors and the UK's top sales professionals - a "who's who' of the sales and marketing elite.
“Michael, who is an Account Manager at Celsius Graduate Recruitment, is a fantastic representation of quality of sales graduates that we assess, train and place” says Peter Ingram, Managing Director. The BESMA awards is evidence that the sales industry is still thriving and for graduates who are looking not just for a job but for a career within the IT and technology market in a sales capacity, this is important to know. We still have sales vacancies in the North, and we still have sales vacancies in the South and throughout the UK and are looking for the highest caliber of sales graduates to place into those sales jobs.
“Our graduate sales training programme which is endorsed by the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management is fundamental in the development of our graduates who have been placed into sales jobs and careers with our clients and it is essential to ensure their success." Says Alun Graves, Celsius’ Training Manager. "We deliver a different level of sales training which specifically focuses on the solution sell within the IT and Technology market places."

4th February 2009 - 12:25pmThe questions all graduates are asking…
All graduates are asking the same questions ‘are companies still recruiting?’ ‘Are there still any jobs/vacancies out there?’,’ What are my chances as a graduate of getting a sales career within a leading technology company?’, ‘are business still investing in recruiting sales graduates with no experience?’. Well, if you are a graduate who graduated from university with a bachelor’s degree last year, or even if you are planning on graduating this year in 2009, the news isn’t all bad. Our current experience is that companies are indeed still recruiting sales graduates, we still have open vacancies and our clients are still looking for those raw sales abilities in new young ambitious graduates more than ever.
Many organisations now see graduates as a more cost effective way to grow their sales teams even within a recession. Instead of investing excessive amounts of money in experienced sales people who demand a basic salary of up to £60k excluding bonuses and commissions, they can recruit a keen graduate assessed for certain basic criteria who are then trained up through Celsius’ Institute of Sales and Marketing Management (ISMM) endorsed training program and pay £30-40k per year including bonus and commissions making a graduate a much more cost effective way to grow their sales team.
News websites and TV programs are all focusing on the doom and gloom of the recession highlighting a lack of vacancies and jobs but if you can demonstrate that you are a dynamic, enthusiastic, driven graduate with a desire to succeed in a graduate sales career, if you are keen to be trained and learn then there is a always a company looking for someone like you - recession or no recession.
