It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for graduate recruitment

Excuse the cheesy title, but with Christmas just six (yes, six!) weeks away, now is the time to focus on who you need for your sales teams for the new year.

November. The start of Q2, the precursor to the notoriously difficult months of December and January where excitable family members are chomping at the bit to pull the Christmas tree out of the loft and throw on some Michael Bublé, whilst salespeople across the planet are looking at their order sheets and wincing.

Meanwhile, stepping out of the airport and back onto English soil are the second wave of bright, dynamic graduates who graduated in June and have spent the last six months trekking across South America, volunteering in Africa, teaching in Asia and jumping out of planes in Australia…eager and hungry to start their careers and start paying back the mountains of student debt and reinvesting into their travel-plundered savings.

It is a phenomenon that Celsius have encountered year after year- the golden period of fantastic talent that we see in June, July and August enjoys a renaissance in November and December for a number of reasons:

  • A second wave of top talent returns from travelling abroad
  • The most dynamic people want to get started asap, and none of them want to be unemployed by January 1st
  • Many graduates don’t even have their graduation ceremony until November

But most of all, as a graduate it can take time after university to fully understand what type of career they’d like to pursue and many decide on sales as a means to utilise their confidence, communication skills and drive in order to fund their newfound goals in a meritocratic environment. Hiring managers looking for graduate salespeople at this time of year have greater peace of mind knowing that these candidates have had a good chance to really think about what they want to do and where they want to be.
